The art work on these colourful characters on children's ride are simply fantastic.
Without these fairs would really be a dull places.

Balloon Men

Kadak Chai

Kadak Chai or tea is made by boiling tea leaves with milk and sugar, sometimes with cardamon. It has become a popular beverage in UAE.

Sea Gulls

Sea gulls perched on the railing at the Al Casba Canal.

Usually you'll find a large flock perched together .....
...... occasionally a loner.

Ovens

At first I could not figure out what these were. These are clay ovens or tandoors, the ones used to bake the tandoori roties at all the pakistani restaurents.

Dolls

These dolls were prizes in a shooting gallery at a fair. There was no way that I was going to hit the targert, so I shot the prize (with a camera) instead.

Well I suppose you have to hide stationary sometimes. But if you hide it how do you sell it?

Nest

Sparrows build their nest in all kinds of unlikely places. This nest is supported by a water pipe and very ugly co-axial cables.
The parent birds took the two chicks and soon flew away from the nest after being photographed, probably did not like their privacy being invaded.

Egret

I saw this egret near the Al Casba Canal. Didn't move much other than turning his long neck to give his one eyed stare.

Al Qasba Canal by Night

Qanat Al Qasba (Al Qasba Canal) connects the Khalid and Al Khan Lagoons in Sharjah. It has become the cultural hub of Sharjah.

Last Sunset of the Year

I thought of taking a much clichéd “last sunset of the year” photograph. It really may be so as I may not be able to get the sunset from near the Al Qasbah Canal, next year. The skyline would probably be just skyscrapers then.
A tea festival is on at the Al Qasbah. I was a little too early, as I couldn’t get a cup of tea. The kiosks marked India, Sri Lanka and UK had not switched on their water boilers.
I managed to get a flock of sea gulls, flying into the sunset.

Sunrise at Sharjah Corniche

I took these pictures this morning. The sky was filled with clouds. As the sun climbed, the clouds turned from grey to fiery red before changing to white.


There were a lot of sea gulls flying around, but only came in front of the camera.
